NANNIES-DON”T CLEAN THEIR HOME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

What exactly does a nanny do and what are her duties? A nannys’ primary duties all involve working with the children. If there is any household duties they should all be taken care of after the children have been provided for. Household duties are extras and families should have a housekeeper or some other arrangement for maintaining their home.

Now, many people think that nannies are there to cook and clean and then take care of the childre. THEY ARE MOST CERTAINLY NOT THERE FOR THOSE PURPOSES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

 

Agencies, get a big fucking clue-a nanny takes care of the children, a housekeeper takes care of the home. A nanny should never be described as someone that cleans the house. Nannies, you should never allow yourself to become cheap housekeeping for anyone.  A good housekeeper makes more than you do. Housekeepers in many areas average $30 an hour-when you clean for your employer they are basically taking advantage of you. It’s wrong! As for the families that have figured out that it is cheaper to hire one person to do two jobs-you suck and your kids will suffer because you are a cheap asshole taking advantage of someone.

When an agency or family starts talking about housekeeping duties stop them and tell them you are not a housekeeper you are a nanny. If they tell you that you are expected to do this tell them no and go to another agency or family unless the family pays you for your housekeeping services. Find out how much services get paid and then tell them you can do it if they pay you this much more each week. That should shut them up fast. Maybe if more of you did this there wouldn’t be so many people and agencies telling you otherwise.

Nannies-wake up and get out of this field!!

We get paid less than the housecleaner, the private cook, the dog walker, the person that cleans up the dog shit-just about every person that comes to work in the houses we work in get paid better and in most cases get treated better than we do.

 

My suggestion to every nanny is to get out of the business-leave this work to the undocomented workers, until the INS and the IRS catch up with the families.

LEAVE, go back to school or get another line of work. This is not the best you can do. I’ve known quite a few pro nannies with years of experience that have been treated so poorly in the past few years. The times have changed-if these new families don’t know quality when they see it let them have the cheapo versions. They will break quicker and have to be replaced more often but at least it won’t be one of us.

It may not be easy but if you don’t do it soon you will be out of work and totally screwed. It is inevitable that this will happen. Alot of the bigger agencies are struggling and many of the small ones are out of business. Do you realy want to get your next job out of the newspaper or worse Craigslist. If you have ever read those ads you know that the jobs are  the worse.

Contact your state government and find out if there are programs to help you train for another career. Take advantage of what is out there-why should someone that is not even a citizen get all the benefits why those of us that pay our taxes get nothing. Makes no sense, does it?? If you did a little research you would find alot of opportunities out there for a former nanny-even one that has been doing this for a long time. To be quite frank I don’t think that many of these people deserve you. You are too good for them. Go out and do something for yourself instead of worrying about these families. You do know they will dump your ass as soon as they don’t need you, don’t you?

Hey, get a clue-your kids not a genius and you ain’t one too!

Just a little thing I would love to get off my chest-why is it that every rich asshole we’ve worked for thinks their kid is actually special? Now, I do believe that many of these kids are “special” but not in that oh so wonderful way that their delusional parents think they are. I think maybe being socially challenged, unbelievably rude, lazy beyond all belief and self entitled may seperate them from the average American kid but special as in they are superior, I don’t think so.

I’ve had other nannies tell me that their charges were seriously challenged but then admitted it really did not matter. The family had money and they would never have to really work a day in their lives so having a low IQ really did not matter. Just think of how many family owned business have Junior running the show. Then think of how services and quality have slipped over the years. Most of us will eventualy suffer because of this. I actually worked for a Dad that admitted he needed to leave a legacy because he knew his kids couldn’t make it own their own.

I don’t know how many times I told a parent how wonderful, sweet, pretty, smart their kid was. Makes me cringe that this was a daily part of my job. I basically was lying to keep my job and I hated myself for it. When I quit I swore that I would never do this again and I’ve been honest for three years now. I never go out of my way to tell a parent  my thoughts but if I am asked I don’t pull any punches, just let them have it. They may not like it but someone has to let them know that the little one isn’t knocking my socks off!

I know there a thousands of you out there that would love to tell your story and let the world know what it’s like to do this job. Come on, every one out there thinks this work is a cake walk. Little do they know what we have to deal with every day-day in and day out.

 

I’ve heard some great stories but now is the time to tell it yourself.

Come on, who really cares what those lame ass message boards and stupid associations think.

Do you really think they matter? In their own minds they do but not in reality!!

You know you want to get all the shit off of your chest-JUST DO IT!

Even if it doesn’t change the world it will make you feel soooooooooooooo much better.

How many times have your bosses left a mess for you to clean up?

How many times have your bosses made you uphold ridiclous house rules only to violate them all moments after coming home (That no television rule is such bullshit, isn’t it, ladies?)

How many times have you been told there is no money for a raise but your bosses are spending money on clothes and other things when you really need a cost of living raise?

How many families have told you they wanted you to stay until the kids go to college and then unceremoniously dump your ass?

I happen to know there are alot of you out there so why not post?

The mothers have their little “I saw your nanny sight” so why can’t we have our own little sight?

Let’s get it off our chests! It will be therapeutic! It will make you feel soooooooooooooo good!!

Even better if you work for high profile employers-you know you sign those confidentiality agreements but how will they know if you complain here? Who in their right mind will claim to be the crappiest employers in the world!!
