Why can’t you take care of your own home, kid, life???

I recently was talking with a friend of mine that was a nanny for years and is currently “retired” from the biz as she likes to say. She got out and went back to school to pursue a whole new career and she is the happiest she has been in years. When we were talking she told me money is tight right now with all the school expenses but she wouldn’t trade this time for anything. She has peace of mind and feels great. We starting talking about the industry and the different changes and during the conversation we talked about Craigslist and certain areas that seem to do alot of hiring of domestic help.

This woman worked in the Main Line area for years and the last couple were so awful she told me she was having nightmares every night-not pleasant. She then told me to look at the Philly Craigslist and check out where all the domestic help was needed. I did and started to laugh-alot of people out there need alot of help. Other areas in Philly have people that can afford childcare and cleaning etc. but it seems that the people out in this area are in special need. I wonder if it is just a status thing or if they truly cannot take care of their own kids and homes. There are even pet daycares and resorts out there! Sad if you think about it or pathetic if you really think about it. Alot of the jobs out there are for people looking for an extra set of hands to assist them do things that most competent individuals do on their own. I’m not trying to pick on this area in particular but I do know alot of nannies in the area and have heard some truly horrifying stories. Why can’t a woman that is a stay at home mom take care of two kids without an extra set of hands? Just curious-I’ve seen woman work full time take care of their kids, and take care of the home and manage. How hard is it to get up and take care of your kids for a full day? Why did you have them if you couldn’t handle it all. I don’t know anyone out there without housecleaning help so if all you have to do is care for your kids, why is that so hard? I really cannot fathom why a healthy individual cannot do that. Most of these pampered wives would pass out if they had to live in the real world where most people are doing it all with little to no help. I guess that is why they now want a nanny/housekeeper so they can cover all the domestic chores that they can’t do. They just can’t do it-sad for the kids being raised by a different person every few months.
